Bank transaction paralysed in Meghalaya
Shillong, Sep 24: Transactions in public sector banks including State Bank of India in Meghalaya were paralysed in response to country-wide two-day agitation that began on Wednesday, Sep 24.
The strike was called to protest the government's attempt to merger and consolidation and wage related issues.
Though the main entry gate of the main branch of the SBI and other banks here was seen open, no one was, however, turned up for duty.
ATM operations in public sector banks was also affected due to the strike call.
A demonstration was also held yesterday by the employees on the SBI's main branch here yesterday in support of the strike where speakers highlighted the reasons for resorting to this agitation.
There was, however, no report of any untoward incident in connection with the strike.
