26 trains diverted, 10 cancelled, Old Yamuna bridge closed

New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) The Old Yamuna bridge in the Capital was closed this morning for rail traffic after the water level at the bridge, which had already crossed the danger mark due to over four lakh cusecs water released by Haryana through Tajewala barrage on Saturday, breached the maximum limit of 206.10 m, Northern Railway sources said.

'' Due to increase in water level, the Old Yamuna bridge has been closed for rail traffic since 0300 hours. 26 trains have been diverted, 27 short terminated while 10 trains cancelled till further notice,'' a Northern Railway spokesperson said.

'' Due to release of over four lakh cusecs of water by Haryana from the Tajewala barrage, water level at the Yamuna bridge has already crossed the danger mark. The water level crossed the maximum limit late last night, leading to closure of the bridge for rail traffic,'' the spokesperson added.
