Vyapar Mandal gen sec held for planning President's gherao

Sultanpur, Sep 23 (UNI) The police today arrested Joint Vyapar Mandal General Secretary for heading towards Lucknow to gherao President Pratibha Devisingh Patil to demand capital punishment for terrorists.

After being arrested, Premlal Singh went on a hunger strike at the police station, while his supporters staged a commotion.

The Joint Vyapar Mandal was demanding capital punishment for December 13, 2001 Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru and approval of the Uttar Pradesh Control of Organised Crime Act (UPCOCA) bill, sources said.

Earlier also, the Mandal had sent a memorandum to the President over the same demands.
