An innovative spinning wheel generates electricity
Jaipur, September 22 , 2008 : Khadi and Village Industries Commission has developed an innovative spinning wheel, which apart from spinning yarn also generates electricity that charges the attached battery sufficient to energize rural homes for 6-7 hours.
E- Charkha is designed by Ekambar Nath, a follower of Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy. These e-charkhas have been distributed free of cost to the villagers under a Scheme Funds for Regeneration of Traditional Industries.
