UP ATS and Delhi police raid Azamgarh district
Azamgarh/Lucknow, Sep 23 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Sqaud (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police in a joint operation with the Delhi police today conducted raids in Saraimeer area of Azamgarh district -- the native place of three terrorists, who had a fierce encounter with the police in the national capital recently.
The raids were conducted at Sanjanpur village at 0700 hrs.
The cops raided the native village of the outlaws on the basis of the information collected from one of the terrorists.
On September 19, Atif alias Bashir and Sajid were killed, while Mohammad Saif was nabbed by the Delhi police during the encounter in Jamia locality of the national capital.
Saraimeer, the native village of Abu Salem, has also of-late become a hub of the terrorist activities, as some links in the recent bomb blasts in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Bangalore and Delhi pointed to this place.
Meanwhile, the police took six people in custody for interrogation, who were later released, Ramit Sharma Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Azamgarh, told UNI.
The team comprised as many as 300 sleuths of UP ATS, Azamgarh police and the Delhi police.
