TN Govt exempts corruption cases from RTI Act
Chennai, Sep 23 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has exempted corruption cases from the purview of Right to Information (RTI) Act to preserve the secrecy involved in the cases.
An official release here today said the State Government has issued an order to this effect, as people started asking for details even before the police complete the investigation and file cases.
As leakage of information would hamper the investigation and the course of the case, the Government has decided to exempt corruption cases from the purview of the Act, it said.
Those who seek information regarding corruption cases, could get the information after the completion of the investigation and police submitted reports to the Government, the release added.
