Prime accused in Marad violence gets bail
Kozhikode, Sep 23 (UNI) A prime accused in the ghastly Marad violence that claimed nine lives in this district of Kerala on May 2, 2003, was released on bail here today.
Police said Marad Thekkeppurath Mohammedali (47), the No 1 accused in the second Marad violence, was released after fulfilling the conditions set by the Kerala High Court on April 4, 2008.
As many as 139 people were arrested in connection with the mob violence as an act of revenge by miscreants in an earlier clash that claimed five lives at Marad, a fishing village on the Kozhikode coast in January 2002.
