Govt offers talks with Kawrthah activists
Aizawl, Sep 23 (UNI) The Mizoram government today offered talks with Hachhek Constituency Development Committee (HLDC) which is protesting against forest department officials in Kawrthah forest division of western Mizoram demanding revocation of Tut-Langkaih forest reserve area.
The Kawrthah activists were invited to the negotiation table separately by the Chief Ministers Adviser and the Principal Chief Conservator of forest this afternoon.
The outcome of the talks would determine the future of the indefinite closure of forest department offices under Kawrthah forest division, HCDC sources said.
The HCDC had alleged that the Tut-Langkaih forest reserve area was prohibited for the teak planters selling fruits at their disposal, and demanded immediate revocation of the same.
It also alleged that the Forest Reserve Act termed the original inhabitants as forest dwellers for which they would fight.
