Goa Children's Court grants bail to Samson
Panaji, Sep 23 (UNI) The Goa Children's Court has granted conditional bail to Samson D'Souza, the main accused in the Scarlett Keeling murder case.
He was released yesterday on furnishing a bail bond of Rs 25,000 with local surety of the same amount.
Samson has been directed not to leave the state of Goa, without prior permission of the court and deposit his passport within seven days of release.
The court has also directed the accused to not to contact any of the prosecution witnesses.
The court noted that beyond mere suspicion of the involvement of the applicant in the crime, the prosecution had not collected any substantial evidence linking him to the crime and observed that after the CBI took over the investigation, no supplementary chargesheet has been produced, indicating the link between the applicant and the crime, even after three months of the incident.
The accused was arrested on March 9 in connection with the murder of Scarlett, whose body was found on Anjuna beach in mysterious circumstances on February 18. She was allegedly raped and murdered after being drugged.
