Cochin Shipyard floats three PSVs simultaneously
Kochi, Sep 23 (UNI) The Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) today launched three Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) at the same time.
One of the vessels floated was BY-63, the eighth ship being built for Deep Sea Supply, Norway. The other two vessels, BY-66 and BY-67, are for Hellespont Steamership Corporation, Greece.
All three ships are of Rolls Royce 755 design and fitted with Dynamic Positioning System which will enable them to automatically maintain their position at sea accurately.
Describing the vessels as the workhorses of the offshore industry, a CSL statement here said all three were equipped to combat oil fires in offshore installations.
The float out was conducted at a simple function with the dock being flooded at the press of a button by CSL Executive Director C K Thomas.
The ships would be delivered between November 2008 and March 2009.
