Uop, Intel join hands to create workforce for VLSI layout
Pune, Sep 22 (UNI) University of Pune (UoP) and Intel India, the global leader in silicon innovation, today announced a joint initiative aimed at creating a specialised workforce for the semiconductor industry on VLSI layout design.
Under this agreement, Intel will collaborate with UoP to develop an industry-specific curriculum sequenced to step a student through the key areas such as analog design, digital design and overall implementation process in VLSI technology.
The program was jointly announced by Dr Narendra Jadhav, Vice-Chancellor, Pune University and Mr Manav Subodh, Head (South and West India), Corporate Affairs, Intel India .
Dr Jadhav, Vice Chancellor, University of Pune said, ''The partnership or synergy between academia and industry is a critical differentiator for a country aiming to become a knowledge based economy. We are very happy that a leading industry like Intel in microchip manufacturing fabrication field is helping in these efforts.'' Co-developed by the Electronics Science Department of UoP and Intel, the program will offer a complete coursework on VLSI Layout technology and develop training faciulties to deliver such courses - thus enabling the development of related industry standards and greater interoperability.
