Three criminals sent to police custody

Agartala, Sep 22 (UNI) A local court in West Tripura today sent three criminals, who were arrested yesterday with sophisticated arms in bordering village of Sonamura town to police custody.

Police said during interrogation the criminals revealed that they were involved in arm smuggling.

According to report Kader Mian, one of the criminal had snatched pistol from Sadhan Ghosh, a sub-inspector posted at Kalamchura police station of the area in 2004 and he was involved in a number of robberies.

Sonamura police had also arrested a Bangladeshi national identified as Shah Alam on September 16 along with live ammunitions.

Altogether 13 criminals including six Bangladeshi had been arrested on Western border of Tripura in last twenty days, police added.

Meanwhile, two smugglers were arrested in Manubazar area of South Tripura near Bangladesh border along with 400 bottles of contraband Phensidyl yesterday.
