Neighbour abducts, rapes and kills minor

Phagwara, Sep 22 (UNI) A man abducted, raped and killed a minor girl after breaking into a neighbour's house after he failed in his attempt to rape the neighbour's wife in Phillaur last night.

The accused Madan Lal, entered his neighbour Pawan Kumar's house in Phillaur and attempted to rape his wife, who was sleeping along with her three daughters in her room, DSP Rajinder Singh Sohal said here today.

However, when the woman raised an alarm and ran to the other room to seek her husband's help, the rapist abducted her 10-year-old daughter and strangled her to death after raping her in the fields, police said.

The body was later recovered from bushes along with the railway lines in Phillaur.

Police have arrested the rapist-cum-killer, Mr Sohal said.

In another incident in the district, a Bihari migrant labourer identified as Bahadur was found dead in mysterious circumstances in the fields in nearby village of Ranipur. Police have registered a case.

In a third incident, one Chowkidar Surinder Singh working in Bhai Mati Dass College For Girls in village Atta was stabbed-to-death in the college premises late last night. Police has registered a case against unidentified armed assailants.
