Narmada Valley oustees' Rally

Bhopal, Sep 22 (UNI) Narmada Valley oustees have decided to intensify their stir against injustice towards displaced people by organising a 'Displaced Rights and Self-Respect Rally' at Khandwa district headquarters on October 18.

''Displaced people from the Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Maan, Upper Veda, Bargi and other dam areas will come together in thousands in the Rally,'' Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Alok Agrawal told journalists here today.

These people have vowed not to give away the source of their livelihood till they get their due rights. The Rally would also be attended by many representatives of people's movements and organisations from across the country as well as several dignitaries.

''More than 10,000 affected people from the Valley demonstrated here on July 10 and 11. A team of representatives met the Chief Minister (Shivraj Singh Chouhan) and he also reached the Railway Station on July 11 to meet the displaced. However, the state government took no decision in favour of the displaced,'' he added.
