Mayawati puts officials on toes to uproot terrorism from UP
Lucknow, Sep 22 (UNI) Directing the officials to deal with terrorism firmly, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said intention of the BSP government was clear and terrorists would not be allowed to accomplish their nefarious designs on the state's soil.
While addressing a meeting of senior officers at Vidhan Bhawan's Tilak Hall here today, the CM said punitive action would be initiated against the police officials, if any terrorist activity was reported from their concerned district.
Stressing upon uprooting terrorism completely from the state, she said involvement of some people of UP in recent terrorist attacks in the country was a matter of concern. If the menace is not checked on time, no one would be safe, she added.
Moving the pointer at the administration, she said terrorism was spreading it's root due to flawed administrative machinery and it is high time to launch a massive campaign against terrorists and wipe them out of the state as instances of terrorist modules spotted in UP had maligned the state's image.
She further said the UP government was totally against terrorism and any anti-national activity and directed her officials to take stringent action against culprits, however, maintained that action should be initiated only after gathering enough evidences and no innocent should be harassed.
The CM also directed the police to submit report regarding action taken for the security of the state in the monthly review meetings.
The CM said communal harmony should be preserved by stepping up security arrangements for ID, Durga Puja, Dassehra, Diwali and other festivals in pipeline and warned that if any incident of communal violence was reported from police station area, not only the juniors but senior officers would also face the consequences.
