Man attempts self-immolation in Jammu

Jammu, Sep 22 (UNI) A 35-year old man today attempted self- immolation by pouring kerosene oil on his body and was stated to be in a critical condition in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said.

''A man identified as Jaswant Singh Jasrotia, poured kerosene oil on his body and set himself afire in the Ghagwal area of Samba district at around 1130 hrs,'' police sources told UNI.

He was immediately shifted to the district hospital from where doctors referred him to the Government Medical College Hospital Jammu.

''He has received 70 to 80 per cent burn injuries and his condition is stated to critical,'' sources added.

However, the reason behind this extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
