Congress lashes out at BJP
Ahmedabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Gujarat Congress today said Chief Minister Narendra Modi and BJP leader L K Advani should ponder over why the BJP-led government failed to prevent terrorist attacks in the state instead of worrying about other states.
Gujarat Congress spokesperson Arjun Modhvadia alleged that the Central Intelligence Bureau on March 27 had warned the state government about conspiracy of terror attacks after the bomb blasts in Jaipur. They had given names of 15 conspirators in Gujarat but the state government had failed to arrest SIMI activists, he alleged.
Mr Modhvadia told mediapersons today that Madhya Pradesh police had arrested Safdar Nagori, who is now in Ahmedabad police custody, and Amir Pervaz, on Andhra Pradesh police information in January this year. Nagori and Pervaz admitted during interrogation by MP police that SIMI had held a training camp in the forest of Halol near Vadodara. They also admitted that they had planned bomb attacks in Jaipur and Ahmedabad and given names of 15 SIMI activists who were part of the terror conspiracy.
Gujarat police arrested these people only after they carried out the serial blasts in Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Why did Gujarat home department not make any anticipatory arrests and prevent blasts in both places?, Mr Modhvadia asked.
