Chiranjeevi to embark on mass-contact programme

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Ahead of 2009 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Praja Rajyam Party(PRP) chief Chiranjeevi will undertake a statewide mass contact programme in early October.

The actor-turned-politician would begin his tour of the state in the first week of next month and later finalise the party election manifesto, based on the feedback of various sections of people, sources said Moved by the plight of handloom weavers, whom Mr Chiranjeevi visited at Sircilla on September 20 to know first-hand circumstances forcing a large number of them to starve to death, the party also decided to constitute a committee, under the chairmanship of former bureaucrat K S R Murthy, to suggest measures to ameliorate their grievances.

On criticism from other parties against Mr Chiranjeevi's visit to Sircilla, he would not react to personal allegations levelled against him, the sources added.
