Befi justifies bank stir
Kozhikode, Sep 22 (UNI) Justifying the nation-wide bank stir on September 24 and 25, Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) today said the agitation would be intensified if the government went ahead with its proposed move to privatise commercial banks in the country.
Talking to newspersons here BEFI Joint Secretary A K Ramkesh and State Joint Secretary K T Babu said the stir by United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) was aimed at resisting the ''disastrous'' move jeopardising the interests of the people.
All categories of employees, including sweepers to assistant general managers are expected to participate in the two-day agitation, which would paralyse banking operations in the country, they claimed.
Other demands included early resumption of discussion on wage hike, reject Raghuram-Hoda Committee recommendations and implementation of February 25, 2008 agreement, they said.
