Report on 'cash for vote' allegations to come soon

Chandigarh, Sep 21 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today said the enquiry committee, looking into the 'cash for vote' allegations during the July 22 Trust Vote, was likely to submit its report shortly and appropriate action would be taken on the basis of its findings.

This was stated by Mr Chatterjee said in his inaugural address at the 73rd Conference of Presiding officers of Legislative Bodies in India here.

He said it was undeniable fact that such incidents had caused ''incalculable damage to the dignity of the Lok Sabha and have undermined public confidence in our elected representatives and Parliamentary democracy as such.'' UNI MA JS1458
