PMC to forge ties with parties ready to accept its leadership

Puducherry, Sep 21 (UNI) Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) would forge an alliance with parties which would accept its leadership, party founder-leader P Kannan said today.

Talking to newspersons after a high-power committee meeting of the party here, he said the alliance would be finalised only at the time of elections. The party was yet to decide about fielding its candidate in the coming parliamentary elections, but PMC's contribution would be enormous in the elections, he added.

To a question Mr Kannan said that he heard that N Rangasamy, after tendering his resignation as Chief Minister might float a new party and was likely to forge an alliance with the PMC.

The party would consider the case of any Congress member inclined to join them, he added.

On Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning, V Narayanasamy, exhorting the Congress Government to treat opposition parties as 'enemies', Mr Kannan wondered whether it would be applicable only to Puducherry or also to the government at Centre. Mr Narayanasamy should mention the name of the opposition party he was targeting, he added.

Mr Kannan said 'White Paper' from the government on the financial position, introduction of 'Goondas Act'', curbing price-rise and eradicating unemployment problems, were among the resolutions adopted at the meeting.
