Major ceasefire violation on LoC in Poonch

Jammu, Sep 21: On Sunday, Sep 21 in a major ceasfire violation Pakistani troops reportedly fired heavily at forward Indian Post from across the border on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Heavy firing from across the border started at 1030 hrs at Kamya Post in Sabzian Sector of Poonch district and reportedly continued until late afternoon with some short intervals,'' sources said. Pakistan had also opened fire on the Indian forward Post Copra in Sabzian sub-sector of Poonch on Thursday, Sep 18 night.

The ceasefire agreement between both India and Pakistan under Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) have been breached by the Pak troops in twin bordering districts of Poonch and Rajouri for around 35 times in last two months, sources asserted. The aim of the cross-border firing is to push in armed militants into Jammu Kashmir
