Noted vocalists to perform at Mysore Dasara

Mysore, Sep 21 (UNI) Noted vocalists K J Yesudas and Anuradha Paudwal would perform at the palace premises during the Mysore Dasara festivities commencing here from September 30, Talking to newspersons here yesterday, Karnataka Rural Development Minister and district in-charge Shobha Karandlaje said altogether 131 cultural programmes would be held at six places in the city, featuring state, national and international artistes.

Traditionally, Dasara music programme had been confined either to Carnatic or Hindustani genre. But, in the recent past, the authorities included light-classical and semi-classical formats in the programme.

This had not only had given the organisers enough scope to tap talent but also given the people of Mysore, an opportunity to regale themselves in the live performances of popular singers, she added.

The minister released the 'gold card,' a ticket which offers entry to various places and other privileges to the holder during the festivities, would be made available at select tourism offices in Bangalore and Mysore.

The minister said elaborate security arrangements were made for the festivities and if required, additional forces would be deployed from other parts of the country. CCTVs were installed at various vantage points around the city, she added.

The minister also released 300 platinum cards, meant for VVIPs who visit Mysore to witness the Dasara festivities.
