National Wushu Championship in Jharkhand
Bhopal, Sep 21 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Wushu Association President N K Tripathy today said the Jharkhand Capital Ranchi would organise the next National Wushu Championship in February 2009.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Tripathy said due to some unavoidable reasons, the Association had decided to hold the championship next year.
About the status of Wushu in Madhya Pradesh, Mr Tripathy said the Chinese Marshal Art was gaining fast popularity Madhya Pradesh and at least 29 units of Wushu had come up in short span which was the ample proof of the sport's expansion in the state.
He said the state had topped the medal tally by clinching 20 medals, including ten gold in the recently concluded 8th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship here.
Mr Tripathy said apart from inviting coaches from China to train budding players of the state units, the Association had also decided to import equipment from China.
Association secretary S M Gupta said the state capital would host a national camp in October in which 60 players would take part and Indian players would be selected from the camp for the Asian Wushu Championship, to be held in Indonesia from December 7.
Mr Tripathy also honoured 13 players, who won medals in the 8th National Sub-Junior Wushu Championship.
