Kerala against restructuring electricity board: Minister
Kozhikode, Sep 21 (UNI) The government is not in favour of restructuring Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) into three separate firms as suggested by the Centre, State Electricity Minister A K Balan have today said.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the government was of the view that the process would lead to privatisation in the sector.
However, a final decision on the issue would be taken at an all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan at Thiruvananthapuram on September 25, he said.
The Centre had directed the Electricity Board to re-structure into three separate companies for generation, transmission and distribution of power for administration, he said.
On load shedding, he said the government, which had imposed an half-a-hour power cut during night, would consider extending it to day time if the North West Monsoon was weak in the State.
