Fierce encounter near LoC, hideout busted in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 21 (UNI) A fierce encounter was going on between security forces and infiltrators in Karnah sector while a hideout was busted in south Kashmir.

Official sources said security forces guarding the Line of Control (LoC) noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Karnah sector early this morning under the cover of darkness.

When challenged, the militants opened fire. The fire was returned and a fierce gun-battle was going on when the reports last came in.

About 25 militants were killed near the LoC after they entered this side from PoK this year. About half-a-dozen security personnel also lost their lives in these encounters.

Meanwhile, security forces busted a militant hideout at Chatripora village in Pulwama district of south Kashmir and recovered a pistol along with a magazine and eight rounds.
