Coast Guard observes Coastal Cleanliness Day
Kozhikode, Sep 21: About 1,500 people, including Coast Guard personnel, participated in 'International Coastal Cleanliness Day' by cleaning the beach here.
Organised by the Coast Guard, Beypore Station, the programme was flagged off by City Police Commissioner Anoop Kuruvila John at the beach.
Apart from Coast Guard personnel, non-government organisations, school and college students, Army and Navy wing NCC cadets participated in cleanliness drive and gathered undegradable and hazardous materials littered on the beach and deposited in the Corporation dumping points.
Addressing the gathering, Coast Guard Commander, Commandant G K P Sree Kumar underlined the need for creating awareness among the people on keeping the coastal areas clean.
