BJP wants Cong govt in Pondy to quit

Puducherry, Sep 21 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here today demanded the resignation of the Congress government in the Union Territory and called for fresh elections, saying the government had failed on all fronts.

In a resolution adopted at the executive committee meeting, the party expressed surprise over the DMK giving a letter of support to the Vaithilingam government when it had failed to implement any welfare scheme.

Stating the party had doubts about the financial crisis, the resolution demanded a white paper on the financial status of the Union Territory.

It condemned Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Planning V Narayansami for his call to treat Opposition parties as ''enemy'' parties.

The party also sought withdrawal of the Coastal Zone Management Act and its notification, and stringent action against violence and terrorism.
