Bihar govt distributes cash, foodgrains among flood victims
Patna, Sep 21 (UNI) Bihar government has launched a special drive for rehabilitation of flood victims under which one quintal foodgrains and Rs 2250 in cash were being given to each family.
After providing shelter for homeless, the government was distributing grains and cash to enable the affected families to meet their ends.
Additional Commissioner of the disaster management department, Amrit Pratayaya today said the camps and the beneficiaries were being identified for special relief distribution. He said the government will also spend Rs 25,000 for distributing utensils and other required gadgets to the flood victims.
So far 12511 quintal food grains and nearly Rs 1.5 crore cash had been distributed among the affected families.
Mr Pratayay said nine lakh 89 thousand 747 people had been evacuated and 3.83 lakhs people who were displaced in the floods had been provided shelter in 349 relief camps. About 230 medical camps had been set up for medical help to the flood victims.
About 35 column army and 855 personnel of National Disaster Response Force were still actively cooperating the government in the relief work, informed Mr Pratayay.
