19 major road projects under progress in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 21 (UNI) As many as 19 major road projects for construction of about 456 kms of road length have been taken up in the Kashmir Valley, costing Rs 539 crore, an official spokesman said today.

He said work on these projects was presently under progress.

Under the programme, 19 road projects costing Rs 539 crore have been taken up in Anantnag, Kulgam, Srinagar, Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam, Bandipora and Pulwama districts.

About 456 Kms of road length would be constructed and improved to provide better road communication facilities to the people.

These major road projects included two prestigious roads from Khanabal to Pahalgam and Narbal to Tangmarg costing Rs 226 Crore.

The road projects would improve and upgrade the road communication facilities from Gulmarg and Pahalgam to Srinagar.

Other important projects are Rs 34.37 crore Sopore-Bandipora road, Rs 26.81 crore Wanpoh-Chawalgam-Aharbal road, Rs 26.45 crore Bijbehra-Langanbal road, Rs 25.5 crore Sangrama-Sopore-Kulangam road and Rs 24.88 crore Humhama-Budgam road.

The road projects on completion would connect various districts of the valley with the highways.

He said the government has sanctioned Rs 35 crore for construction of 15.50 km Sharda-Kamal Kote road in Baramulla district, and 24 km Habdipora-Qadar-Qaimoh road in Anantnag district.
