TN: Vice President arrives on two-day visit

Chennai, Sep 20: Vice- President Hameed Ansari arrived here this afternoon by a special aircraft from New Delhi, on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu.

He was received at the airport, among others by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force here and a few Tamil Nadu ministers. Later, he proceeded to Raj Bhavan for stay.

The Vice-President will preside over the convocation function of Dr M G R Medical University at the University Centenary auditorium here this evening.

After an overnight stay at the Raj Bhavan, he will leave for Tiruchirapalli at 0945 hrs. He is scheduled to return to Chennai by 1230 hrs and leave for New Delhi at 1500 hrs.
