Three arrested in labourer's death following wall collapse

Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) Police today arrested three people at Muduchur in Tambaram near here today when a portion of a wall collapsed and killed a labourer and injured another.

Police said V Jethan(55) a building owner was constructing another building nearby and engaged six labourers to dig earth. The wall fell on the two labourers while they were concentrating on their work. Tirupati(50) was killed on the spot while another labourer Sashidharan(35) was injured. Both hailed from Manjakuppam in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu.

Tambaram Fire Station rushed to the spot and sent the deceased body for post-mortem to Chrompet Hospital. The injured was admitted to government hospital here.

The other two accused were identified as Balaji(36) a site engineer and Jayapal(35) contractor.

A case had been registered and investigation was underway, police added.
