TDP demands white paper

Kakinada, Sep 20 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Polit Bureau member Yanamala Ramakrishundu today demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government bring out a 'white paper' on the coastal industrial corridors and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in the state.

Questioning the manner in which valuble fertile lands were forcibly acquired by displacing thousands of small and marginal farmers and fishermen families, he told newspersons that it was ''ridiculous'' to acquire fertile lands for laying six lane and eight lane roads for the sake of the coastal industrial corridor and SEZs.

Instead of acquiring vast fertile lands for roads, it was better to take up widening of the existing roads which would be economical and less problematic, he opined.

Mr Ramakrishnudu said the party would chalk out agitational programmes on vital isues such as shortage of fertilisers and spiralling prices at its polit bureau meeting on September 27.

Ridiculing the claims of actor-turned-poltician Chiranjivi that Praja Rajyam party would bring out a change in state politics, he said encouraging migration of leaders from other parties would not help to achieve the objective.
