Students forced shut down over clash

Allahabad, Sep 20 (UNI) Tension aggravated in the area after traders again clashed with students, who were staging demonstration over their demands of registering an FIR against the local traders for manhandling students yesterday.

Student of Tara Chand Hostel had staged a demonstration over the insufficient power and water supply in the hostel yesterday, where few traders interrupted and resorted to violent activities.

Following the clash, the students went to police and asked them to register a case against the accused, however, when police gave a deaf ear to their demands, they went on an agitation today and blocked roads.

However, seeing the students on protest, the traders again clashed with them and allegedly assaulted a SSL hostel student Vishal Rathore.

This further intensified the clash and the students in rage pelted stone on the traders and forced them to shut down their shops and other commercial establishment.

Soon the news spread like a fire and students of PCB hostel and GN Jha hostel also joined the violence and forcibly closed the entire market.

Later, ADM City, SP city and Proctor reached the spot and assured the students of stringent action against the guilty.

It was noted that yesterday night a clash took place between traders and students, while they were staging dharna demanding uninterrupted power and water supply in the hostels, following which students protested today demanding an FIR against the traders.

SP city Awdhesh Kumar Vijeta told that an FIR has been lodged against 5 anonymous persons in this regard.
