Shrek all set to hit Broadway in November
London, Sept 20 : Movie ogre Shrek is set to hit New York's Broadway Theatre on November 8.
The musical sees the computer-generated character and pals brought to life.
'Shrek: The Musical' has already opened in Seattle.
Shrek's role, which is voiced by Mike Myers in the hit movie series, is being taken by Brian d'Arcy James, 40.
Brian is joined on stage by wisecracking pal Donkey as he sets off to rescue Princess Fiona from the clutches of a dragon.
As in the film, a host of favourite fairytale characters - such as Pinocchio and the Three Blind Mice - also put in an appearance.
"If it's anything like as successful as the films, the musical will be a huge money-spinner," the Daily Star quoted a source, as saying.
Shrek started life as a novel by William Steig before being turned into a film in 2001 by Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks company.
