Seven die in road accident, 19 injured
Bilaspur, Sep 20 (UNI) Seven people were killed and 19 injured, seven of them seriously, when their bus collided with a trailer-truck at Bilaspur-Korba road in this district today, police said.
The bus was heading from Bilaspur to Korba when the driver lost control and rammed into the trailer-tractor at around 1200 hours on the bridge at Bagdevah nullah, 40 km from here.
The tractor fell from the bridge, while the front portion of the bus was badly damaged. Six peopled died on the spot, while one succumbed while being taken to hospital. Seven critically injured were admitted to medical college hospital.
Korba Collector Ashok Agrawal, Superintendent of Police Ratanlal Dangi, Bilaspur SP Vivekanand Sinha and other officials reached the spot.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh expressed grief over the demise of people in the accident. He announced Rs 25,000 ex-gratia to family members of the deceased and Rs 10,000 assistance to injured.
