Ragging victim attempts suicide

Jabalpur, Sep 20 (UNI) Fed up with ragging by her colleagues, a second year nursing student attempted suicide by slashing her wrist at her hostel here.

District hospital sources said that Karuna Thakur had a dispute with her colleagues during meals yesterday. Annoyed by it, she cut her wrist but was immediately admitted in the hospital.

Karuna alleged that her seniors tortured her in the name of ragging. She complained to the hostel's warden but she did not take any action in this direction.

''The girl slashed wrist because she had a dispute over distributing tasks among them,'' hospital civil surgeon Hitesh Agrawal said.
