PM to meet Planning Commission on Sep 20
New Delhi, Sep 20: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will convene a meeting of all members of the Planning Commission here on Saturday, Sep 20 to discuss the integrated energy policy and take stock of the country's nuclear energy programme.
The meeting comes ahead of Dr. Singh's US visit, to which he will leave on Monday, Sep 22 to attend the meeting of the 63rd session of UN General Assembly in New York. The full panel meeting on energy will discuss the possibility of augmenting power supply by increasing generation from nuclear power following the clean waiver granted from the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Human Resource and Development Minister Arjun Singh, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav will attend the high-level meeting.
