NMPT poised for a major leap

Mangalore, Sep 20 (UNI) New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) is poised for a big leap in handling diversified cargo in the back drop of mega projects coming up in the vicinity of the Port.

According to press release issued by the NMPT here today large volumes of project cargo started moving through the Port, which was meant for mega projects like Suzlon, Udupi Power Corporation, Bharati Shipyard and Tebma Shipyard.

Due to the intervention and pro-active marketing strategy of the Port, more project cargo started moving through NMPT hitherto handled at neighbouring ports.

More number of foreign vessels carrying project cargo were calling at the Port.

Mr P Tamilvanan, Chairman NMPT expressed happiness over the increase movement of project cargo and containers at NMPT. He was hopeful of more varieties of cargo coming to the Port due to its location and facilities offered, the release added.
