Nedumudi denies caste caucus in film industry
Kochi, Sep 20: Popular Malayalam film actor Nedumudi Venu on Saturday, Sep 20 denied allegations of a caste caucus in the film industry and said those making these accusations should come out with details.
Participating in a 'meet the press', organised by the Ernakulam Press Club here, Nedumudi denied allegations made by veteran actor Thilakan that there was a caste-based caucus in the Malayalam film industry, due to which he had lost some roles.
Stating that Thilakan should come out with the details, he said the truth should come out.
However, he admitted that the comraderie that existed in the film industry about 30 years ago, when he had joined it, was not there now and the younger generation was more ''materialistic''.
The changes in the society are reflected in the films, he said and observed that the absence of theatres was a handicap in the growth of Malayalam theatre.
