Govt ready to talk on rehab package : Buddhadeb tells Guv
Kolkata, Sep 20 (UNI) Sticking to the stand on Singur tangle, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today apprised Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi that the state government was not unwilling to have further discussions on the rehabilitation package with Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee.
The Chief Minister, who was closetted with the Governor for one and half hours, informed Mr Gandhi about the package in details maintaining that the government was also ready to make some "additions" in the package, if required.
He also deliberated on the functioning of the four-member committee, set up for finding solution to the land problem.
Mr Bhattcharjee, however, told Mr Gandhi that no talk could be held on giving more land to farmers from inside the Tata Motors' small car project area.
The Chief Minister's discussions with the Governor took place a day after the Trinamool Chief's meeting with the latter in which she urged Mr Gandhi to operationalise the agreement for returning land to the 'unwilling' farmers.
" I gave the Governor details of what happened, including the package announced by the Government when he was away in Delhi. We have faith in him and want a solution in the spirit of the agreement, " she has said.
