Armed miscreants loot Secundrabad-bound train passengers
Arrah, Sep 20 (UNI) A gang of armed miscreants robbed cash and valuables worth Rs 20 lakh from the passengers of a three-tier AC coach of 'Patna-Secundrabad Express' near Karisath station in this south Bihar district last night.
Police here today said the ten-member gang boarded the bi-weekly train at Arah station as bonafied passengers. But as soon as it left the station for its onward journey, the miscreants started looting the passengers at gun-point.
When some of the passengers gathering enough courage resisted, they were severely assaulted and even threatened to be thrown away from the running train.
After robbing passengers of the AC coach of their belongings, valuables and cash worth more than Rs 20 lakh, the miscreants alighted from the train at a secluded spot near Buxar junction at around 2330 hrs.
As the train reached Buxar, the looted passengers lodged an FIR with the local GRP.
Though a massive search operation was immediately launched in nearby areas, none could be arrested nor any valuables or cash could be recovered generating large-scale protest and agitation among the passengers.
After about three hours of detention, the train left for its destination, the sources added.
