AP govt to recruit more than 50,000 teachers
Hyderabad, Sep 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced his decision to recruit more than 50,000 teachers this year through DSC-2008.
At a meeting with School Education Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and school education officials here, he directed the Principal Secretary (School Education) CBS Venkataramana, to take all precautions so that there would be no legal hurdles in the recruitment.
Dr Reddy wanted the notification to be issued immediately so that Government Schools would not suffer due to lack of teachers.
Funds should not be a problem as far as recruitment of teachers was concerned as his government would ensure that the 6,500 Success schools functioned with full strength.
There are 76,213 Schools in Government Sector in the State -- 57,467 Primary Schools, 8,684 Upper Primary Schools and 10,062 High Schools. Of this, 7,048 are Govt Schools, 67,068 Zilla Parishad/MPP Schools and 2097 Municipal Schools.
The Chief Minister was informed that in some of the High Schools, there were not enough teachers for critical subjects of Mathematics, English and Physical Sciences, while in some other High Schools, class rooms were over-crowded and additional sections were not created due to lack of adequate teachers.
