Chennai, Sep 19 (UNI) Virtually sounding the poll bugle, AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa today said the future of the party depends on a victory in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, even as the party General Council unanimously authorised her to take steps to devise the poll strategy and formalise alliance with like-minded parties.
Speaking at the General council meeting of the party, held at a marriage hall at the suburban Vaanagaram, she said since the future of the party lies in its performance in the Lok Sabha polls'.
Party workers should realise this and work with the sole aim of ensuring AIADMK's victory.
''Our goal should be to win the Lok Sabha polls'', she added.
Exhorting the party cadres to work towards achieving this goal, Ms Jayalaltihaa said ''till we achieve this, the party workers should not think or bother about anything else. I am there to solve all your problems. My earnest request to you all is to work unitedly and ensure victory. I am cent per cent confident that you will do it'', she said, amid thunderous applause from the packed audience.
Referring to the attacks on party workers during the bypolls to Local Bodies yesterday, Ms Jayalalithaa urged the partymen to just concentrate on the Lok Sabha elections.
''Don't get discouraged by these attacks, which can be unleahsed only by DMK in local body polls. Such attacks cannot take place during General Elections. Don't get scared. Our party's future lies in the victory we get in the Parliamentary polls', she added.
Meanwhile, the General Council unanimously authorised Ms Jayalalithaa to decide on the party's election stratey, including alliance and seat sharing with the allies.
