Treat magic on par with other arts: magician Anand
Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 19 (UNI) The Centre and state governments should treat magic on a par with other arts in the country, noted magician and All India Magic Federation President Jadugar Anand today said.
Talking to newspersons here, he said magic was not receiving due acceptance and recognition from the state or Central governments and urged them to take steps to promote it.
Asked why the art form was not attracting more people, he said magic had no glamour or social status being enjoyed by other art forms.
About the controversy over the much-talked about 'fire escape performance' by Malayalam actor Mohan Lal, which was later cancelled following widespread protests, Mr Anand said people like him should avoid such acts as it needed lot of expertise and practice.
Moreover, he should consider the anxiety of his fans, he added.
There was no political or personal rivalry in his opposition to the performance, but only a concern about the life of a great artiste, Mr Anand added.
