No letter pertaining to Article 355 received by K'taka govt
Bangalore, Sep 19 (UNI) The Union Government had so far not sent any letter warning State Government over the safeguarding the interests of minority communities under Article 355 of the Indian Constitution in view of the attack on places of worship, official sources said here today.
According to a highly placed official the state government had not received any communication on the issue.
Reacting to reports appearing in a section of media the Home Department official told UNI that no such letter was received at the state capital till date.
However Karantaka Law and Parliamentary minister Suresh Kumar told reporters today that the government had received a 'letter', which was however only an advisory in nature did not cite Article 355 of the Constitution. "It had expressed concern over the incident of attack on churches and prayer halls in some of parts of the state," he said.
The Minister said the state Government had taken preventive and precautionary measures 'to put a stop' to such incidents.
Meanwhile one more Church in Daxina Kannada district came under attack when some miscreants hurled stones and damaged the panels of windows in the outskirts of Mangalore.
