Monitoring Committee to look into violation by cable channels

Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration has constituted a District Monitoring Committee to look into the violation of the Programme Code and Advertising Code prescribed under the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and rules framed there under.

The Committee constitutes of District Magistrate as Chairman.

The other members are Senior Superintendent of Police, Director Public Relations, UT, Principal GCG, Sector 11, Chandigarh, Head of the Mass Communication Department, Panjab University, Dr Mohanmeet Khosla, Chief Bureau, Hindustan Times, Chandigarh, Mr Manish Tiwari, Representative of a leading NGO working for Children Welfare, Dr Ramneek Sharma, Psychologist, Mr Bhavneshwar Sharma and Sociologist, Mrs Mohinder Kaur Teja.

The committee will ordinarily meet over in two months to look into the complaints brought to its notice by individuals or organisations or take suo moto notice of violation of provisions of Cable TV Networks Rules, 1995.
