Independent MLA threatens stir against Govt on minority issue
Kolar, Sep 19 (UNI) Independent lagislator of the Karnataka Assembly Varthur Prakash today threatened to launch an agitation against the State Government if it fails to protect the interests of the minorities in the state.
Talking to newspersons here after visiting a place of worship yesterday, Mr Prakash, who is also Karnataka State Water Supply and Seweage Board (KSWSSB) Chairman, said, ''people belonging to minority and backward classes are feeling 'insecure' and the Chief Minister of the state should take immediate steps to bring confidence in them by creating a conducive atmosphere.'' He demanded that the State Government book the culprits responsible for the attack on places of worship.
Mr Prakash assured that he would protect the interests of minorities at all costs.
It may be noted that BJP Government headed by Mr B S Yeddyurappa is supported by six Independent MLAs since it (BJP) had only 110 legislators in the 225 member House.
