ACB arrests Sub-Inspector, Station Writer in bribery case
Hyderabad, Sep 19 (UNI) Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) today arrested a Sub-Inspector (SI) and a Station Writer of Krosuru police station in Guntur district for accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 from a complainant for an official favour.
ACB laid a trap yesterday to arrest SI D Anjaneyulu and Station Writer U Venkatanarayana for demanding the bribe for releasing the complainant Jillella Ramakrishna in a case, who had secured an anticipatory bail from the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
The complainant, with bribe amount and along with other accused, appeared before SI, who instructed him to pay the amount to the Station Writer. The Station Writer took the complainant to the petrol bunk situated on the outskirts of the Krosuru village and accepted Rs 7,000 from the complainant.
Venkatanarayana was caught red handed and the amount was recovered from him. Both the accused were arrested at 0300 hrs. They would be produced before the Special Judge in Vijayawada, a press release here said.
