2 HUJI terrorists killed, 1 held in Delhi encounter
New Delhi, Sep 19 (UNI) Two suspected Harkat-ul-Jehad-e-Islami (HuJI) terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with the police in Jamia Nagar area of South Delhi today.
While one of the five militants involved in the encounter was nailed down, two others managed to escape, said a senior police official, adding that a huge quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives were recovered from their 'hideout'.
Efforts to nab them started on a tip-off of Abu Basher, who was brought here yesterday by the Gujarat Police, he said.
''An inspector and a constable of the Special Cell were also injured in the encounter,'' the official informed.
The area has been cordoned off and closeby buildings vacated as a safety measure. Search is on to nab the others, he said.
According to initial investigations, the terrorists were living there on rent. The operation took place near Batla House in Jamia Nagar, where the National Security Guard commandoes were kept as a standby.
The encounter came barely a week after the serial blasts in the national capital, which claimed over 20 lives.
